Our Minister

In 1999 Louis and Elsie Bezuidenhout came from South Africa to settle in Scotland with their two children, Jaco and Andeli. Previously, Louis was a Minister in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa and Head of the Department of Biblical Studies at the University of Pretoria. He received a Doctoral Degree with a dissertation on the Book of Job. He was invited to do research at St Mary’s College, St Andrews as a ‘Visiting Scholar’ in 1989. In 2000 he was appointed as a ‘Senior Research Fellow’ at the University of Glasgow. Elsie is an Educational Psychologist and has worked in the Councils of Dumfries, Argyll and Bute as well as Moray. After doing his probation in Campbeltown in 2000, Louis served as the Minister of Kirkmichael, Tinwald and Torthorwald in the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright, then in Glenaray and Inveraray linked with Cumlodden, Lochfyneside and Lochgair in Argyll and then in Kinloss and Findhorn linked with Alves and Burghead in Moray. Both their children are married now and live in England. Louis and Elsie are also the proud grandparents of a granddaughter, Anna. Louis and Elsie are looking forward to this new chapter in their lives. To them, the Church is a family.
